Inpath of exile recently gave up many changes with the update 3.15 "expedition". Especially on balancing was screwed and many builds lost to damage. The players do not seem to be excited about it - but what's going on?
This is different with the new update other than before: With new, big updates, the popular Hack'n'Slay Path of Exile can usually always pull very many players in his spell, but this time that did not work so well How to look at the numbers.
- The current update 3.15 "Expedition" reached about 23% fewer players for launch than previous extensions.
- But not only the launch ran bad, even in the days after the update, more and more players went.
- Just a few days after the appearance, so small players were measured as they reached other extensions only after weeks.
- So "Expedition" has lost around 24% of its release date players after a few days. For comparison: The previous update "Ultimateum" has lost only 3.4% of the players in the same period (via MMORPG.ORG.PL and STEAMCHARTS.COM).
- The numbers only refer to the Steam version. Path of Exile still has a standalone launcher who is not considered here. The update has been published on 23 July (on consoles on July 28).
Why loses Path of Exile Players? , among other things, the numerous Nerfs of the new update should be. One speaks of a Nerf when an object, character or the like is attenuated in an update. In addition, the game should have become much harder with the update.
The developers talk about "back to the roots" and make the game harder again. Already in the announcement was a polarizing topic. When the controversial update now appeared, the players look disappointed.
Does this affect the reviews? Especially many long-time players are not enthusiastic about the update. Although the Steam reviews of Path of Exile are still good, ie "very positive" to "mostly positive" - but there have never been so many negative reviews for the game as currently.
Above all, it falls on that just the long-term players write the bad reviews. On the first page of the reviews are only two of players with less than 1,000 game hours.
How bad is that? Just look at the overall players of Path of Exile over the last year, the state of active players is still higher than it was the case before the update. On average of the last 30 days, one could even improve.
However, that will probably look different in the 30 days after the update, but that remains to be seen. Many players are currently looking in to make a picture of how bad the Nerfs are actually. This is especially noticeable at the rapidly declining player numbers after the high of the update.
The developers remain unimpressed for the time being. You write in a newsletter that you understand that many players have been annoying about the changes and you would expect to attract so many players as they have been the case with other major extensions.

The community is disappointed
That's what the players say: There are countless comments on Reddit, Steam and the comment columns that do not agree with the changes. Straight players who have spent a long time in the game, are sour:
- This is how the User Rei writes on Steam after 1,765 hours: "The update is garbage. The developers go into the completely wrong direction. That does not play. I can not recommend it right now. "
- The user Kerillion has already played for 7,021 hours and closes: "The vision of the developers unfortunately separates at this point of my wishes and the game develops personally in an unwanted direction for me. In addition, after a few years, I finally feel that GGG [developers] definitely do not know what they do. "
- The user NICE -_-Joke writes (via reddit): "It feels like to play with broken legs by default. I hope I can find somewhere crutches. "
- The user MugzyWhompus takes it with humor: "They finally improved server stability. It's a buff! "
Even if we would like to show you a counter-representation, we are extremely hard to find positive comments on the update. Did you play it? How is your changes? Let's take a comment here!
Even before the update, Path of Exile provided an expensive mouse pointer pack for annoyance.
