PS5 SSD extension: Sony Mark Cerny favors a model

The PS5 can be extended with an internal SSD memory shortly. The long-awaited feature is already in the test phase **. With the publication of the relevant firmware is sometimes expected in August.

The SSD extensions are not favorable, which also applies to the model favored by Cerny. The 500-GB model costs around 160 euros , the 1-TB model about 280 Euro and the 2-TB model just under 500 euros - each including heatsink. The prices of the models without heatsink are clearly below. Here you would need to tinker with modules ** a little.

Given the fact that Cerny advocates the WD_BLACK SN850 NVME SSD by Western Digital more or less, it seems that PS5 owners who want to expand the SSD of their console can not really do something wrong with this variant. Nevertheless, it is likely to be worthwhile to wait and see the one or the other hardware test, which SSD model is best harmonized with the PlayStation 5.
